Well. Erm. That was fast. It´s already Monday again??? This week was particularly unkind in passing by. But it was a very good one!!!
So this last week I took a short little trip in the bus… To Neuquén. Again. Haha there was a leadership training meeting all day Thursday with about 45ish missionaries so I got on the bus on Wednesday afternoon, arrived Thursday morning, and got back on the bus that night to get back to Comodoro on Friday afternoon. Let me tell you sleeping on the bus two nights in a row is not my cup of tea. Or sprite since that´s the only drink missionaries can drink on the buses. The training was really good, because it was of course with President Lovell, but I still think my favorite part was bumping into Elder Lobato and Elder Smith!!! Happy reunions all around! I hadn´t seen Elder Lobato since he was transferred in April so it was quite the fiesta catching up on all the happenings in the past few months. And although it´s only been a month or so since I had seen Elder Smith it was the last time that I would see him as he´s going home… next month… Wow that was quick.
We also had a baptism in the district! Happy smiles all around! Although it wasn´t our baptism in Roca, we were quite happy for the Constituyentes missionaries and for Alex. I had met him months ago in divisions, but he has just recently turned 8 and ever since has insisted on being baptized. His parents aren´t quite members yet, seeing as they are getting married next month, so it was indeed a convert baptism. The service was the best. I don´t think I´ve ever seen a more excited kid right after the baptism. He couldn´t stop talking about how good he felt immediately after coming out of the water. Mission work. Nothing better than helping people feel inexplicably happy. 🙂
This weekend was somewhat interesting in barrio Roca though. As soon as I got back in town on Friday we got to work trying to track down our investigators. But our area was a ghost town. The weather had gotten really nice for the first time for a couple weeks and so everyone decided to go to the beach this weekend. Joys… But we did run into Natalia and Matilde on our way home last night! Natalia wasn´t able to come to church this week, but promised that she´s coming to all three hours next Sunday. We may or may not have seen much of them since the baptism and confirmation. Oh Comodoro. Why is no one ever home? But! This next week is going to be great! We just know way too many amazing people to not have some great success this transfer!!!
Oh yeah the other fun happening this week. 1008 Rock. Las 1008 is the neighborhood we live in. It´s kind of. Sketchy. And by sketchy I just mean the people that live there are. Sketchy. Apparently this last weekend was the birthday of the neighborhood, and according to tradition there was a three night concert. Friday night was rock and roll from 10 until 3. That wasn´t too bad actually. But Saturday after the baptism service was Heavy Metal. From 12 until 7. No joke. I´ve never been so sleep deprived on my mission. Ha! Every time I would wake up I´d be shaking my head and saying to myself silly neighbors…. Lots of people were quite tired yesterday morning in church due to the concert. Everybody in our ward boundaries could hear it. And our ward is not very small. Luckily though last night was folklore and cumbia. Pretty calm. Oh the fun things that happen in the mission.
Can I just say how I excited I am for this week? We have so many great things planned with some incredibly people. Even if only half of our investigators are in their houses this week when we have our appointments it´s going to be great! We finally have a ward mission leader, and he´s way excited. Ah! I don´t believe I´ve ever before been so excited for the next couple weeks ahead. Elder McAllister and I have been working our tails off to find some incredible people, and we´ve found them! Now we just need to teach them! And that´s the best part! Ah. Mission life. It just gets better and better! Thanks for the prayers and all! I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have so many people watching my back! Have an incredible week and I´ll check back in in a week!
Love,
Elder Davis
